Writing an evidence-based piece is the most complicated of all types of writing to teach. However, this type of writing is the most commonly used form of writing in high school, college and work. This course will provide useful tools and practical writing strategies for teachers to help students develop this important skill in constructed response questions in reading, math and science and in argumentative essays. Participants will walk away with a wide array of easy-to-use activities and strategies to effectively teach the process of evidence-based writing and help students master the process of writing claims, evidence, analysis and counter-argument. This standards-aligned course is suitable for 4th through 12th grade teachers across all disciplines.
