Though childhood is a critical period in human development, not all children have the benefit of being seen and treated as children in our society. When children don’t have the benefit of the innocence of childhood, they are subjected to harsher treatment and more punitive measures than children who are seen as children. This course is an exploration of the impact of these biases on our students, and the ways in which educators can become aware of and interrupt these biases that strip children of their right to be children. Suitable for teachers of all grades.
