It’s been said that “this is literally the only class you need regardless of what you’re going to do after high school.” Everybody needs health and everybody needs to know how to be healthy, which is why we need to make sure that our classes provide students opportunities to learn AND practice health skills so that they can transfer those skills to their adult lives. This course will provide an overview of the importance of skills-based health education and then we’ll dive into the seven health skills as defined by the National Health Standards. Throughout the course you’ll learn how to teach the skills through the context of health content, incorporate skills into your current curriculum, and to develop ready-to-use skills-based lessons. Information and skills learned in this course can be applied to K-12 Health Education.
